Southern Florida

STATESIDE DIVING

Choose a target and explore the site!

Southern Florida gives you the a limited choice of inland dive sites and the Gulf-side waters or the bolder choice of diving in the Atlantic. The depths vary but from the coast the depth drops gradually until you head some way off from the mainland where it drops sharply. Shipwrecks are spread out in numbers near the coast-line with some dating from the 16th Century.

The jewel of diving here is undoubtly Palm Beach County, here there is a myriad of both intentionally sunken wrecks and vehicles and coral worth exploring. Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach and Miami area can all be considered diving meccas for artificial reefs and coral alike.

Some beach areas in Southern Florida are off-limits to scuba-divers with metal detectors. In Indian River county the number of treasure-hunters has prompted the State government to issue salvage leases to prospective entrepeneurs and to police the wreck areas.
